Cleaning Solutions We Recommend
Use one or both of the following to care for your healing piercings:
• Wound wash (available here for purchase), or a non-iodized sea salt mixture
• A mild, fragrance-free liquid soap—we suggest the orange Dial® soap (available at most grocery stores and pharmacies).
cleaning instructions
• Always WASH your hands prior to touching your jewelry for any reason.
• SALINE soak for five to ten minutes 3 to 4 times a day. Apply using clean gauze or paper towels saturated with saline solution, let it soak in for a minute or two. Rinse it afterwards to remove residue from the solution
• SOAP once a day, twice if necessary. While showering, lather up a pearl size drop of the soap to clean the piercing site and jewelry. Do not leave the soap on more than necessary as it will irritate the piercing. Rotating the jewelry is not necessary.
• RINSE the piercing site to remove all soap residues.
• DRY with paper towels by gently patting the area, avoid cloth towels as the harbor bacteria.

AFTERCARE Do do
• ALWAYS wash your hands prior to touching the jewelry
• Keep your bedding fresh and clean. Wear loose fitting clothes that cover the piercing site while you sleep to avoid getting it snagged on be
• Contact your piercer when you are ready to change out your jewelry.
AFTERCARE Do not
• Avoid baths, pools, hot tubs, and bodies of water such as lakes and rivers as they harbor bacteria and will create a higher risk of infection. Stick to taking showers until the piercing is healed.
• Avoid harsh soaps that are scented or have dyes in them as they will irritate the piercing site.
• DO NOT use ointments on your piercing unless recommended by your piercer or doctor, they will suffocate the piercing site and delay healing.
• Avoid tight clothing, unnecessary friction, pulling or tugging the piercing. It will tear healing tissue, cause irritation, and delay healing of the piercing.
• DO NOT allow anyone to play with your piercing. Foreign bodily fluids should not come into contact with your healing piercing as it puts you at higher risk for infection.
• Avoid using body sprays or cosmetics around the piercing site as this will irritate your healing piercing.
